October 9 trial for fisherman charged after cocaine allegedly seized during Portmore traffic stop
A St Catherine fisherman who is charged in connection with the seizure of cocaine during a stop by the police in Portmore is to go on trial on October 9.
Amos Lee, 39, is charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, using a motor vehicle for the conveyance of cocaine, and attempting to export cocaine.
The matter could not be heard in the St. Catherine Parish Court yesterday and was put off by Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle.
Allegations are that about 6:00 p.m. on October 17, 2023, members of the police's Narcotics Division conducted an operation along Port Henderson Road in Portmore, St. Catherine.
It is further alleged that a car was observed being driven in a suspicious manner along the roadway.
The vehicle was intercepted.
During a search, approximately three kilogrammes of cocaine was found concealed inside the vehicle.
Lee, who was driving the vehicle, was subsequently arrested and charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
He has made numerous court appearances.
