Security guard charged after imitation gun allegedly found during traffic stop
The police have charged a 23-year-old security guard for allegedly being in possession of an imitation firearm.
They say Tajay Nelson was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped at the intersection of Maxfield Avenue and Spanish Town Road in Kingston on Sunday.
Nelson is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.
According to reports from the Denham Town Police, around 3:45 p.m., a patrol team signalled a Toyota Probox motor car to stop.
The driver complied, and the passengers exited the vehicle.
During the process, officers reportedly observed a bulge in Nelson’s waistband and requested to conduct a search.
Nelson complied, and a subsequent search revealed the imitation firearm, according to police.
He was immediately taken into custody and later formally charged.
His court date is currently being finalised.
