Worker at Western Union in Spanish Town pleads guilty to stealing over $3.3 million
A 22-year-old man who was employed at a Western Union outlet in Spanish Town, St Catherine, today pleaded guilty to stealing over $3.3 million from the entity.
Takoder Beckford, who was employed as a clerk, admitted to the offence of larceny as a servant and is to be sentenced on September 2.
A social enquiry report was ordered.
Facts are that on January 13, 2025, Beckford stole the money from the company, which had a glitch in its payment system.
Beckford was confronted and the police were called in.
He was taken into custody on suspicion of larceny as a servant.
He subsequently gave a caution statement to the police and was arrested and charged.
