56-y-o St Catherine man found guilty of rape of underage girl
A 56-year-old St Catherine man was on Thursday found guilty of the rape of an underage girl.
He was remanded by Justice Dale Palmer for sentencing on October 31 in the St Catherine Circuit Court.
The matter, which was tried over two weeks, saw the jury return a 5-1 verdict on count one and a unanimous guilty verdict on count two.
He was charged with two counts of rape.
The Crown led evidence that the man committed the offences against the 11-year-old complainant in January 2022 and again in June 2023.
A report was made to the police's Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse, which resulted in his arrest and charge.
