Forty-six-year-old store manager, Dave Walters, of Vineyard Town, Kingston 3, has been charged with fraudulent conversion in relation to the importation of a motor vehicle on a woman's behalf.

The Elletson Road police say the woman contacted Walters, whom she knew before and who imports and sells motor vehicles.

She reportedly made payments directly to a Japanese car dealer, and Walters agreed to clear the vehicle at customs upon its arrival in Jamaica.

The police say the woman transferred $450,000 to Walters’ bank account to clear the vehicle, however, it was not done, and the money was not returned.

A report was made and an investigation launched.

Walters was subsequently charged on August 5.

His court date is being finalised.
