Two killed in separate police operations undertaken as part of probe into deadly attack on cop's family
Two men were fatally shot in separate police operations this morning.
The operations were reportedly undertaken as the police continue to pursue those responsible for the deadly attack on a policeman and his family near Reading in St James on Saturday.
In the first incident, it is reported that Lindel Gray, otherwise called 'Frass' or 'Sassa Frass', was shot and killed during an alleged confrontation in the Anchovy police area at about 1:00 a.m. on Monday.
The police say an illegal firearm was recovered.
In the second incident, at about 5:00 a.m., police, reportedly acting on information, swooped down on a premises in Shooters Hill, St Andrew, where an alleged confrontation ensued.
A man identified as Andre 'Likkle Zullu' Reid was fatally shot.
According to the police, Reid was the alleged leader of the KDF Gang.
In Saturday’s attack, it is reported that the policeman and his family drove to a location in Reading, near Montego Bay, to conduct business when they came under gunfire.
The policeman, his wife, and their son were shot.
The wife, identified as 36-year-old Latoya Crystal Stephenson, a human relations manager of Montego Bay West Village in St James, was killed, while the policeman and his son were taken to hospital.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing this morning’s fatal police shootings.
Since the start of the year, as of August 4, INDECOM has launched investigations into 191 fatal shootings.
The agency investigated 189 fatal shootings for all of 2024.
Meanwhile, the police have advised their members to remain vigilant, especially those working in St James.
According to the police, the threat level against members of the force is high, as intelligence suggests that gang members are planning to avenge the deaths of their associates.
