Dawes rides into nomination with all-woman team he says symbolises PNP's love and care
People's National Party standard-bearer for St Catherine South East, Dr Alfred Dawes, led a throng of supporters on a bicycle and then on foot as he entered Bridgeport High School in the parish to be nominated to run in the September 3 general elections.
A full slate of women accompanied Dawes to the nomination centre to carry out the exercise.
Asked about the symbolism of using women only, Dawes said the PNP was sending a signal that this campaign was about love and care.
"They are representing the caring spirit of nurses who I have worked with, who I have seen administer the majority of the bedside care to patients and that's the management we are bringing to the constituency," Dawes said.
The medical doctor said he is also promoting health and fitness.
"Health is not just the absence of disease, but the absence of stress, whether it is the stress worrying about mosquitoes, drainage, bad roads and your front end parts," Dawes said.
