TikToker to be sentenced September 23 for threatening violence if PNP candidate lost election

Forty-year-old Giovannie Skeen, otherwise called ‘Mother Love’, is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in the case in which he was accused of threatening to engage in political violence.

The vendor from Marlborough District, Balaclava, St Elizabeth, was charged with use of audiovisual communication to promote violence after he posted a video to TikTok on August 18 threatening violence in the constituency if the People's National Party (PNP) candidate lost in the September 3 general election.

In the video, Skeen reportedly stated, “If we no win, we ago turn the world inna Haiti, pure big matic and rifle,” and “Me wi murder people fi me party.”

Skeen was apprehended by law enforcement on August 20, during a targeted operation in his community.

He was subsequently charged following a caution statement and a question-and-answer session.

He appeared before the Santa Cruz division of the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Tuesday where he pleaded guilty.

He is scheduled to return to court on September 23 for sentencing.
