Update | Man accused of setting woman’s house on fire during argument remanded
St Catherine resident Samuel King, who is charged with setting a woman’s house ablaze during a dispute, was remanded when he appeared in the parish court today.
In court, it was disclosed that a report from the fire department is outstanding.
King, who is charged with arson, was ordered by Senior Parish Court Judge Desiree Alleyne to return to court on April 28.
Attorney-at-law Atiiba Dyer told the court that he intends to make a bail application on King’s behalf.
The court then requested an antecedent report to facilitate the application.
Allegations are that on January 24, there was a disagreement between the complainant and the accused.
The woman reportedly ran inside the house, and the accused allegedly set the house on fire.
The complainant reportedly suffered injuries in the fire.
An investigation was launched by the police, which resulted in King’s arrest and subsequent charge of arson.
