Ganja seized by the Marine Police in Hellshire, St Catherine on March 23, 2206.

Lawmen assigned to the Marine Division on Monday seized a large quantity of ganja during an operation along the coast of Hellshire, St Catherine.

The team, acting on operational intelligence, carried out a targeted search which resulted in the discovery of approximately 70 knitted bags containing compressed ganja.

According to the police, each bag is estimated to weigh between 30 and 50 pounds,

In addition to the ganja, the police say the team also seized approximately 800 litres of mixed gasolene, along with several bags containing clothing and food items.

The police say the items are believed to be linked to organised illegal activities being conducted along the coastline.

No arrests have been made.

However, the police say investigations are ongoing with intensified efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the contraband.

They say the seizure represents a major disruption to illegal trafficking activities and reinforces the police’s commitment to securing Jamaica’s coastal borders.
