Holland High Monday celebrated Shanoya Douglas, who ran a record-breaking 22.36 seconds to win the girls’ Class One 200m at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships on Saturday.

Douglas broke the previous Champs record of 23.53 set by Brianna Lyston in 2022, as well as the national junior record of 22.50 held by Briana Williams.

She also secured victory in the Girls’ Class 1 100m, clocking a personal best 10.98 seconds ahead of the Edwin Allen duo of Alexxe Henry (11.21) and Reneica Edwards (11.45).

The celebrations at the Trelawny-based school featured a marching band, while members of the school community turned out in large numbers to hail Douglas’ success.

Students also lined the driveway of the school to welcome Douglas.
