A St Catherine man has been fined a total of $70,000 or 14 days’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to driving without a licence and insurance.

The accused, Deshaun Rhoden, was charged with driving without a driver’s licence and operating a motor vehicle without insurance coverage.

When he appeared in the parish court on April 2, Parish Judge Geneta Smikle imposed a fine of $40,000 or seven days’ imprisonment for driving without a licence, and $30,000 or seven days’ imprisonment for having no insurance.

Reports are that on June 15, 2025, Rhoden was driving a motorcycle along Jobs Lane in Spanish Town when he was stopped by the police.

Checks revealed that he did not have a valid driver’s licence to operate the motorcycle and was also without insurance coverage.

He was subsequently charged and later pleaded guilty to the offences.
