Vivica's big 50

WESTERN BUREAU:Basking in the success of her latest movie, Sharknado 2, it was a sexy, sultry, seductive Vivica A. Fox, who turned up at Rose Hall Great House last Saturday night for her 50th birthday soirée, hosted by Flow Jamaica.
Wearing a yellow Uzuri masterpiece, the blockbuster actress entered the venue on a flowing red carpet as photographers jostled to get the best shots.
It could easily have been a night at the Grammys or Emmys, and Fox was the one taking home all the awards, including the one perched on her Forever Heart birthday cake.

bars and food stations. The décor was fit for a blockbuster star's milestone.
Of course, the star was fashionably late for her party, but when she walked in, it was all energy, even more electric than when she visited the island last December for Oceanstyle's New Year's Eve bash.
"I knew there was nowhere I wanted to celebrate my 50th more than in Jamaica," she told Outlook, still in awe at the massive attention her presence in paradise had garnered.
"From the moment I walked into the party, I have felt special," said Fox, who got her big break in Independence Day. She also starred in Set it Off, Soul Food, and Kill Bill Volume 1.
The highlight of the birthday party came when Jamaica's queen of soul, Karen Smith, serenaded Fox with Aretha Franklin's How Glad I Am, bringing Fox to tears. Smith changed the lyrics to suit the occasion, dedicating several words to the birthday girl, ending her presentation with Respect.
The event attracted a small, intimate group of local movers and shakers, complemented by Fox's friend, The Game's Racquel Wendy Robinson, and The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Peter Thomas.
For Flow, throwing a party for Fox was a way to reach out to consumers, making them feel a part of the blockbuster culture.
"Similar to how we partnered with HBO at last year's jazz fest, we saw this as another opportunity to further showcase Jamaica as such, positioning Brand Jamaica as a destination of choice among visitors to the island," declared Grant Hume, vice-president of Columbus Business Solutions.
