Feiern gute Zeiten (celebrate good times)

Melodious and beautiful. Two of the many words used to describe the presentations of both the German and Jamaican anthem from wife of new German ambassador, Maria Toledo De Schmillen, last Friday night. The white tent with subtle elements of the black, red and gold, was packed with excited well-wishers at the German National Day reception, held at the ambassador?s Jack?s Hill residence.

In his address, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade A.J. Nicholson spoke of the good relations the Germans share with Jamaica, especially during the last year, and with the appointment of Reggae Boyz coach Winfried Schäfer. As he encouraged those in attendance to raise their glasses to salute Germany, Nicholson said it was indeed a time to celebrate the achievements of the past 24 years of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Formalities aside, guests danced the night away as they indulged in delectable German cuisine and German beer. Here are the highlights.
