party a success
The Kiwanis Club of Kingston took over The Jamaica Pegasus' Negril Ball Room with their annual grand Christmas charity ball last Saturday.
The club's president Marcel Boyce told Outlook that this year's fundraising event got more support than last year, because of the change of venue and day. "We had it on a Friday night at a different venue and now it's at The Pegasus and on a Saturday night so the support is even better," he said.
More than 100 persons were present, demonstrating they recognised the importance of supporting the young Jamaicans. The club has been around for the past 50 years and has made tremendous contributions to 21 schools they have partnered with. Some of the projects include a breakfast feeding programme, 'Terrific Kids' competition - where individuals are recognised and rewarded for exceptional performance in various areas of their school activities, debating competition, among others.
The ballroom came alive with live performances from Fab Five and Judy Emmanuel. The guests could not resist taking over the dance floor and singing along.
"There are a number of individuals and organisations who have supported our annual ball for many, many years - and I must take this opportunity to salute you all and say a big 'thank you' for the generous support given," said Boyce.
