SAJ shows Christmas spirit
The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ), on December 4, spread the Christmas spirit in the Greenwich Farm community with its annual Christmas treat. The treat was held at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church located on East Street in the community.
Held each year for the elderly of the Greenwich Farm and the students of the SAJ-sponsored Marcus Garvey Basic School (MGBS), the treat saw 100 elderly persons and the 80 students of the MGBS receiving gifts from the SAJ. The elderly were treated to bags of groceries while the students received a variety of toys and treats.
The SAJ provides year-round assistance to the MGBS through the monthly provision of grocery items and financial sponsorship towards teachers' salaries. The association also supports Greenwich Farm through twice-monthly free clinics for members of the community.
