THE SHIPPING Association of Jamaica (SAJ) will host its highly anticipated ‘Introduction to Logistics Management’ workshop on Thursday, February 27 and Thursday, March 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..

The intensive, two-day online course will be staged in partnership with the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU). Designed for professionals across the maritime and logistics sectors, the workshop will assist participants with practical skills and essential knowledge to advance their careers and improve business operations.

The course will cover critical topics such as logistics terminologies, supply chain planning and control, risk management, marketing in logistics, and the future challenges and opportunities within the field. Participants will engage in continuous assessments, including quizzes, exercises and case studies, for a dynamic learning experience.

The workshop’s success last year highlighted the growing demand for logistics expertise in the region. Initially scheduled for one session, overwhelming interest led to the addition of a second workshop. In total, over 30 companies from eight Caribbean countries participated, with attendees representing diverse organisations such as logistics firms, shipping agents, port authorities, terminal operators, and other stakeholders in the maritime and allied industries.

Participants in the previous sessions reported significant benefits, including a deeper understanding of logistics management principles and practices. The workshop’s practical focus on areas such as transportation, inventory management, warehousing, and distribution equipped attendees to make a meaningful impact in their roles. Upon completion, successful participants received certification from the CMU.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in gaining a strong foundation in logistics management. While no formal prerequisites are required, a basic understanding of business operations and supply chain concepts is recommended.
