Montego Bay's PACE Band made its presence felt at the grand opening of the Courtyard by Marriott Kingston, last Friday night.

The band, renowned for its prowess on the north coast, had guests rocking the new pool deck and bar on the second floor of the 129-room silver-certified LEED hotel, which welcomed its first guests last December.

Lead singers Kareen and Ian Lamme, drew for an impressive contemporary compilation that included the likes of Justine Beiber's Sorry, Lorde's Royals and Beres Hammond's I feel Good and No Disturb Sign.

It was a feel-good event. The Courtyard literally rolled out red carpet, swinging open its doors and enticing the palate with food stations strategically placed around the pool, serving a delicious variety of dishes.

A popular brand in the Caribbean, this is its debut in the capital city, and with the entry, the group says it is offering excellent value in the mid-tier market that is currently under served.

"Our hotels adapt well to the lifestyle needs of both its domestic and international guests," said Tim Shelton, president for the Caribbean and Latin America, at Marriott International, in his message to those in attendance.

Spacious rooms, which Marriott says is larger than those at other hotels in the same category, are designed to provide comfort and functionality.
