Designer Bill Bliss once said: "When in doubt, wear red". There was, however, little doubt surrounding the importance of the colour at the recent Go Red for Women High Tea put on by The Heart Foundation of Jamaica.

The Venetian at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel was fully decked out in red and white, as an attractive group of men and women came out in the radiating colour for a worthy cause.

This was the fourth staging of the Go Red for Women campaign for the 46 year old organisation, which aims to encourage women to get their heart health checked. The Heart Foundation of Jamaica has been leading the charge to educate both men and women that matters of the heart are to be prioritised, as heart disease is the number one killer of women in Jamaica.

Executive director of the foundation Deborah Chen and her team, are committed to raising awareness about heart disease, as well as funds to purchase a much-needed echo-cardiogram machine. This machine will help in preventing an estimated 80 per cent of heart disease-related deaths through early detection and screening.

Host of the event, Fae Ellington kept things flowing effortlessly with her humorous and exuberant personality.

Go Red for Women Ambassador Cindy Breakspeare took to the stage to emphasise the importance of preventing heart disease. "Our country is in great need and though it may not be easy to go the extra mile, everyone here found it in their hearts to come and support," she said.

Mario Evon entertained and captivated the audience with his lovely voice and wonderful song selections. He brought guests to their feet. The night continued with prizes, fine wine and good food.
