Spain celebrates 50 years with Jamaica
Ambassadors, former prime ministers, local ministers and high-ranking members of government, citizens and friends of Spain took to the lawns of the embassy's 'White Clouds' residence on Wednesday, October 12, to celebrate 50 years of prosperous diplomatic relations between Jamaica and Spain and 10 years of the positive impact of the Spanish-Jamaica Foundation (SJF). The warm and private reception by the Embassy of Spain was a cultural delight with mouth-watering delights plated by Jamaica-owned Melia-Braco in Falmouth; music by the Alpha Alumni Band; and refreshed with wines from the Land of La Mancha, provided by Olive International.
The reception also served as the launch of The SJF's 10th Anniversary Game Changer Wish List Project, which forms part of its celebration and which recognises 10 community-based projects with a contribution of $100,000 each. A symbolic cheque was presented and will be handed to the Jamaica Association for the Deaf to assist with the purchase of hearing aids for three students of the St Christopher's School for the Deaf, located in Brown's Town, St Ann.
