Expedia opens expert lounge in Jamaica
WESTERN BUREAU:
Expedia guests arriving in the country can now expect an even warmer Jamaican welcome, with the opening of a local Expert Lounge at the Sangster International Airport.
Introduced in collaboration with Destination Management Company and Jamaica Tours Limited, the state-of-the-art lounge will serve as the place for Expedia guests to check in for their ground transportation to their hotel, and receive their Expedia welcome kit with destination information.
"It will also serve as a way for all of our guests to receive a warm Expedia Jamaican welcome to what is sure to be a trip of a lifetime here in Jamaica," says Expedia's Eric David, during the official ribbon-cutting ceremony recently.
Receiving full endorsement from the Jamaica Tourist Board, the government agency acknowledged that Expedia is one of their major global partners that had expanded its footprints in Jamaica.
Speaking at the ceremony, Marcia McLaughlin, deputy director of tourism in charge of marketing, lauded the companies for partnering on a project that is a game changer.
This is the first country in the world where Expedia has opened a local Expert Lounge. The online travel company serves over 1,000 destinations and does over 250,000 rooms with Jamaica annually.
