Dr Olivene Burke, director of Mona Social Services at The University of the West Indies, was formally conferred with the prize for 2020 Laureate of the Caribbean for Public and Civic Contributions at the Anthony N Sabga Caribbean Awards for Excellence. Owing to COVID-19 restrictions, the usual gala event – held in one English-speaking Caribbean territory to honour all four laureates – celebrated Dr Burke singly in a small ceremony, held last Wednesday at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel. Here are the highlights.
