Queen's on a roll in ISSA netball

DEFENDING junior and senior urban champions, the Queen’s School, have ended the preliminary round of the ISSA schoolgirls netball competition unbeaten.

Queen’s won their final match in Group E on Wednesday evening to finish on 15 points in both sections.

Playing at home, both teams ended in fine style as the juniors first turned back Wolmer’s Girls 41-14 before the seniors, in another impressive display, triumphed 51-12.

Holy Childhood’s juniors and seniors are also on their way to top spots in Group F after playing their penultimate matches of the preliminary round. Both teams recorded their fifth wins in a row for a perfect 15 points and will end their fixture next Friday. Holy Childhood’s juniors beat Innswood High 42-7, while the senior won 48-7.

Former champions St Hugh’s and St Andrew High Seniors also remained unbeaten and booked their spots in the next round. St Hugh’s turned back Campion 46-20, while St Andrew High squeezed out a narrow 22-19 win over Immaculate High. In the other senior game on Wednesday, Vauxhall stopped Merl Grove 27-19.

The preliminary round of the competition will come to an end next week with the final set of matches in groups A and C on Wednesday, while Group B will conclude on Friday.
