Focus on speed
ANTOFAGASTA, Chile:
SPEED. It is one of the things for which Jamaicans are known the world over.
Also, it is a quality national football men's senior team head coach, Winfried Sch‰fer, believes will serve his Reggae Boyz well in their search for victory against Paraguay, in their Group B Copa America match at Calvo Y BascuÒ·n stadium this afternoon, beginning at 6 p.m. (4 p.m. Jamaica time).
"We've to play very quickly, and we've to play good passes and we'll have a very good chance," Sch‰fer noted after the Jamaicans' final training session, at the match venue yesterday evening.
"Our team is very motivated; we've very good players and we'll play a good match tomorrow. We've a good chance for winning. What we also need is a little bit of luck," he added.
Based on the line-ups used in training, Sch‰fer appears set to make one change to his starting line-up, as he replaced striker Darren Mattocks with Je-Vaughn Watson. The latter flew in from Dallas to join the team yesterday afternoon and worked out early, before being withdrawn for a massage.
Watson-Austin chemistry
"Watson is a very good player. Watson and Austin work very well together, more power," he remarked of his long-time central midfield combination.
So the starting team looks like this: (GK) Duwayne Kerr, Wes Morgan, Michael Hector, Adrian Mariappa, Kemar Lawrence, Rodolph Austin, Je-Vaughn Watson, Garath McLeary, Joel (Jobi) McAnuff, Simon Daw-kins, and Giles Barnes.
