I have learnt alot, says Jamaican triple jump debutant
Jamaican triple jumper Shanieka Thomas has labelled her experience at the 15th IAAF World Championships as a positive one despite her failure to win a medal.
Thomas with a mark of 14.08m finished 11th while Jamaica's other jumper Kimberly Williams (14.45m) finished fifth in the final.
"It’s disappointing that I couldn't get the desired performance here, but it has been an overall positive experience," said the 23-year-old Thomas, on her debut final of a major championship on her first attempt.
"I have learnt a lot," she said.
The 28-year-old national champion, Williams, again failed to win a medal having placed fourth at the last World Championships.
The gold medal was won by Colombia’s Caterine Ibarguen (14.90) with Israel’s Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko (14.78) taking the silver and Kazakhstan’s Olga Rypakova (14.77) bronze.
