BRUSSELS, Belgium:
Elaine Thompson just doesn't know how to lose a 100m race these days.
The Olympic double sprint champion swept aside the competition at the Brussels Memorial Van Damme Diamond League, equalling Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce's 10.72 meet record today.
Thompson, who says she remains surprised by her accomplishments this season, got the better of Dafne Schippers (Netherlands), 10.97 and clubmate Christania Williams, 11.09 to ensure that for the fifth year in a row, the women's 100m Diamond Trophy is won by a Jamaican.
"Honestly, I am a bit surprised, sometimes I just smile," Thompson said. "I never knew I would be here doing all of this and I have to give God all the thanks and I also have to recognise my coach Stephen Francis for how he has transformed me."
