Old Harbour United stay perfect

Old Harbour United continued their impressive form as they whipped Correctional Services 300-261 in last Sunday's round of matches in the Jamaica Domino Federation/COK/Dragon Stout Portmore/ St Catherine Domino League.

The win pushed Old Harbour United to maximum 24 points and lead the standings in the 13-team league. Joint second-place team Links United (20 points), who are, incidentally, last year's champions, inflicted Frazsiers Whip first loss 300-255. Frazsiers Whip also have 20 points.

Charlton Football Academy gives to charity

The Charlton Football Academy, based in Greater Portmore, St Catherine, made good on a promise when it made a charitable donation to Mustard Seeds Communities last Wednesday.

"This venture is one of Charlton Academy's mandate in giving back to the less fortunate and persons who have special needs in society. Our kindhearted donors are Gladstone Orlando 'Bunni' Byfield and Gus Xikis, both from New York," said Shaun Charlton.

Manchester elects Watson as new president

Long-standing Vice-president Baron 'Barry' Watson was elected president of the Manchester Football Association earlier this week.

Watson's new position was ratified at the annual general meeting of the association, having served in an interim capacity since late last year. He was elevated to serve in the top post following the ascension of the previous president, Dalton Wint, to the post of Jamaica Football Federation general secretary. Watson had been Wint's deputy for the past three terms.

His confirmation comes after an uneasy period among some circles in Manchester Football who felt that his interim role was too prolonged given Wint's clear absence to a full-time role.

Baron Watson is well known in sporting circles in central Jamaica. He has served as an INSPORT/SDC officer but is better know as the man who coached Mile Gully to the National Premier League in 1997. He was also at the helm when Manchester High reached its first daCosta Cup final in 2011.

Alligator Pond, Los Perfectos tops in Manchester Major League

Two former champions, Alligator Pond and Los Perfectos, have both kept their lead atop the Mikail Phillips-sponsored Manchester Major League following contrasting wins in the fifth round earlier this week.

Alligator Pond needed a 69th-minute strike from Evon Dixon to pip Villa United 1-0 and net their fourth straight win and keep their unbeaten streak since the start of the season. They are on 12 points, but this was matched by Los Perfectos who outscored Old England 3-1. However, Los Perfectos have played one more game.

The third result of the week saw Technical Strikers earning their first point of the competition after they earned a 0-0 draw away to Mile Gully. The point gained by Mile Gully pushed them to third place on eight points, just one ahead of Comfort. Old England are yet to earn a point after five matches.

St Elizabeth teams lead South Central Confed Super league

Two St Elizabeth teams, Blackstar and St Bess FC, are the overall leaders of the two zones in the Charley's/JB Rum South Central Confed Super League. Quite amazingly, both produced convincing 4-0 wins in last weekend's start of the return phase.

Blackstars continued Downs FC misery season, winning 4-0 to move atop Zone One with 23 points ahead of Vere FC of Clarendon. They are the only team to win seven matches. Parish mates St Bess FC similarly knocked over York Town of Clarendon 4-0 to lead Zone Two on 21 points. Their nearest rivals in this zone are also another St Elizabeth team, Holland Police Youth Club, who have 14 points.

In other results of the round, Vere United and Real Treasure Beach ended 1-1. So did Sporting Central Academy and Dunbeholden.

Rivoli United, who are third in Zone Two on 13 points, defeated Greenvale Academy of Manchester 3-1. However, two Manchester teams posted rare wins. Porus edged Moores FC 1-0 courtesy of Imani Osbourne's 56th-minute strike while Hillstars outscored Holland PYC 3-2.

Appleton maintain lead in St Elizabeth Major League

Former champions Appleton have shown that they are the team to watch this season in the St Elizabeth Major League after chalking up their third straight win.

Appleton, through their international Mikhail Lodenquari's fourth-minute strike, pipped newcomers Ballaz FC 1-0. Lodenquari had also scored in Appleton's 2-0 over Fullerswood the previous round.

Fullerswood FC were also shown no mercy by New Holland FC, losing 4-1.

In other results to complete the third round, Middle Quarters Police Youth Club outscored Tafari Lions 3-1 to stay second behind Appleton, while newcomers Goshen powered past Super Action 4-0. Rashane Grant led the way with two goals.

Clarendon Major League round-up

The two preliminary zones of the 2018 Clarendon Football Association Major League season have begun to take shape.

Morgan's Pass have been most impressive, chalking up their third straight victory with a 4-2 win over Football Central. They have nine points from three games and lead Zone A above Treadlight, who have seven points from their three games so far. Of significance, Morgan's Pass rebounded from their two early losses to beat Original Hazard 2-0.

Savannah Cross lead Zone B on six points from two games, ahead of Kempshill, who are on four points from their two games to date.
