Overhaul! - Dunbeholden planning offensive shake-up
The coaching staff of Dunbeholden FC is planning to overhaul the team's front line after losing the first three matches of the 2018-19 Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) season.
The decision follows the RSPL debutants suffering their third 1-0 defeat yesterday, this time at the hands of Tivoli Gardens, leaving the side in 11th place on the 12-team table.
Dunbeholden are aware that statistics show that one of the two promoted teams to the nation's top flight league is likely to be relegated each year.
And with fellow promoted team Mount Pleasant Football Academy riding the crest of a wave after winning their first two games, the pressure is mounting on the St Catherine-based team.
Colorado Murray fired home in the 19th minute to maintain Tivoli's perfect start to the season.
Assistant coach of Dunbeholden Andrew Fraser believes that it is his strikers who are not performing as the team has created numerous chances in the matches they have played but have not been able to find the back of the net.
"We have been putting in a lot of work preparing for these games, and we are not getting the results that we want. The forwards are getting opportunities, but we have yet to put the ball in the back of the net," Fraser said. "I think what we have to do is make some changes in terms of the forwards because we have played them in three games and still have not been able to score."
Despite the disappointing start to the season, the club is remaining optimistic.
"We came here to go all the way, and we still believe that we can win the competition," Fraser said.
Tivoli Gardens coach Omar Edwards was pleased with his team's efforts. "We were organised for most of the game, and Murray got the goal that we needed. Truth be told, we did what we needed to do to take maximum points," Edwards said.
Mount Pleasant will be looking to join Tivoli Gardens at the top of the table and pull off another eye-catching win when they take on former champions Montego Bay United at the Montego Bay Hall Sports Complex tonight.
