Confident England here for 3-Test netball series
England Roses head coach, Tracey Neville, says her team is highly motivated and very confident ahead of their three-Test series against Jamaica's Sunshine Girls. The matches will be played on October 11, 13 and 15 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
The Roses were beaten 2-1 at home by the Sunshine Girls in their last meeting in 2016. However, Neville who led the Roses to this year's gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia, where they beat the Sunshine Girls in the semifinals, said her team is pumped up for the series.
Speaking at the Norman Manley International Airport, shortly after her team arrived in Kingston, Neville said: "I am feeling good because we had a close game against them at the Commonwealth Games to get into the gold medal play off and so we know that they are going to come out hard against us."
he added: " We are in the early stages of our international calendar and we want to look at players as we prepare for the World Cup. There are some new players and young players out here with us. We ready to play against them (Sunshine Girls) and give them a good challenge."
Neville said her team's preparations have gone well.
We know that the Sunshine Girls are a high possession team and they are physical one on one and that is something that we are going to adapt to from the early stages."
The England Roses who are ranked second in the world, two places above the Sunshine Girls, will be without the star player Geva Mentor for the series.
Both teams will be using the series as part of their preparations for next year's World Championship, which will be held in Liverpool, England.
