The Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) has expressed satisfaction with delivering on its commitment to member associations following the presentation of products obtained through its partnership with LASCO.

Ten national sporting associations were given cases of iCool Water, iDrade, and Soy Food Drink to aid in the nutrition and hydration of their athletes at Olympic Manor, the headquarters of the country's parent body for sports, on Friday, November 30.

"The JOA is very pleased with this morning's proceedings. I believe that we've had a very successful year. We've delivered on all our targets for this year, one being forging partnerships with various companies that would benefit our athletes, and so, we're very happy with LASCO being here today and distributing the benefits to us that we're passing on to our member associations," said Novelette Harris, member relations manager, JOA.

POSITIVE FEEDBACK

"The feedback from our member associations has been very positive with the support from LASCO, and we really appreciate it," she added.

Heather Bernard, corporate communications specialist, shared similar sentiments.

Bernard said: "We are so proud of our member associations and stand ready to do all that we can to ensure that each is ready and able to represent the nation at the highest level."

The sports that benefited are badminton, basketball, bobsleigh, cycling, gymnastics, judo, netball, rugby, skateboarding, and squash, some of which are attempting to fulfil the JOA's '10 in 20' goal of having Jamaica represented in 10 sporting disciplines at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

"We have good prospects for the target. Our target is 10 sporting disciplines for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and we're well on target for that, so we're quite pleased with our progress so far, and we'll continue to help our athletes to develop and qualify for the 2020 Olympics," Harris reiterated.

All 10 sports had representatives on hand who welcomed the items, which will be used for their training and development programmes.

"It's definitely a good partnership. The associations that are part of the JOA definitely need some support, and any support we get is really appreciated. LASCO is really a good one because they supply products that we really use, like water, hydration fluids, and food drinks," said national netball player Danielle Johnson.

The defender noted that besides product support, there are other ways in which the association benefits from the JOA and its partnerships.

"Like the series we had the other day, there's a lot of behind-the-scene things that they do for us, and not just supply hydration fluids, but just the assistance that we need. It's a really good partnership. We're really elated that they decided to come on board with Netball Jamaica," added Johnson.
