Fraser-Pryce, Thompson for Queen’s meet
Olympic sprint gold medallists Elaine Thompson and Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce are expected to open their 2019 seasons at the 18th staging of the Queen’s/Grace Jackson meet at the National Stadium tomorrow.
The women will run the invitational 60 metres. Also down to compete at the meet are Nesta Carter and Rasheed Dwyer, who will contest the men’s 60m.
According to meet organiser, Olive McNaughton, more than 2,000 athletes will be in action at the meet which will begin at 8:30 a.m. Events down to be contested on the day are 60m for seniors, 200m, 400m, 4x400m, long jump, and high jump. Calabar High, Kingston College, Jamaica College and St Jago High are the top male teams that have entered athletes for the meet while the top girls’ teams include Hydel High, Excelsior High, St Jago, and hosts, The Queen’s School. In addition, there will be overseas entrants from Florida and The Cayman Islands.
