The Jamaica Gymnastic Association (JGA) will be sending a 22-member team to participate in the World Olympic Gymnastics Academy (WOGA) Classic Liukin Invitationals in Plano, Texas, from February 7-10. The contingent will start leaving the island today.

“For the first time, we have team members from all the gyms in Jamaica, Jamaica School of Gymnastics, Portmore Gymnastics and Wellness Centre, Nishida’s Gymnastics Montego Bay, and Westmoreland Gymnastics Academy, as well as overseas-based [gymnasts],” stated president Nicole Grant-Brown. “Our senior males of Reiss Beckford, Michael Reid, Caleb Faulk and Nicholas Tai and senior females of Kiara Richmond, McKenzie Robinson and Ashe Bernard will also be competing. Later, our [athletes in] levels seven-10 and senior girls will be competing at Gymnix Challenge and Gymnix International from March 7-10, 2019,” she said.

Grant-Brown said her association will be looking for excellent improvement in the delivery by the athletes as they have grown stronger and more skilful over the year, especially with the hard work they have been doing, some with the help of the Chinese coaches.

“We expect to see their best as they compete against the best in the world. Thanks to our current sponsors, the board members, parents, and coaches, Team JGA is progressing well,” said Grant-Brown.
