Swans Charity Tournament tees off today
The St Hugh’s Past Students’ Association will host another tee- off in the Swans Charity Golf Tournament at the Constant Spring Golf Club today. This is the event’s fourth staging and is expected to raise funds for a care centre at St Hugh’s High School that will allow girls who face imminent or immediate danger to be able to continue their education.
The multipurpose facility will house the sick bay, counselling rooms, classrooms and the living quarters.
“We hope to be able to break ground this year if we are able to significantly add to the funds we earned from the three previous meets,” St Hugh’s Past Students Association president Diane Thompson-Clarke said.
“With the kind donations of the sponsors and the participation of the golfers, we continue to grow.
Celebration
“This event is particularly significant because it is in celebration of the school’s 120th anniversary, so we hope to make a meaningful impact with the funds raised.” she continued
Thompson-Clarke said participants will be given value for the $4,500 spent on registration.
“Our tournament is special because the registration fee of $4,500 includes a continental breakfast, a bag filled with ‘goodies’ for registered players, courtesy of our sponsors, a refresher station on the green (where the players will get complimentary hydration products and snacks), a medical station on location, and, of course, the awards ceremony,” she said.
Tournament director David Mais will classify the players to earn prizes for categories that include men’s seniors, seniors, females, boy and girls. An overall champion will also be selected.
