IAAF World Relays | Women shine in 4x100m final, men struggle to sixth
Jamaica's women produced an impressive run to secure the silver medal in the 4x100m relay final at the IAAF World Relays inside the Yokohama International Stadium in Yokohama, Japan on Sunday.
Anchored by a flying Jonielle Smith, the Jamaican team, which also included Gayon Evans, Natasha Morrison and Shashalee Forbes, stopped the clock at 43.29 seconds, to finish just behind the United States, 43.27, with Germany, 43.68, taking third place.
Things were not nearly as good for the men, who had to settle for sixth in 38.88 seconds after a flat run by the team of Nesta Carter, Julian Forte, Rasheed Dwyer and Nigel Ellis.
The event was won by Brazil, 38.05, which shocked the United States, 38.07 and Great Britain and Northern Ireland, 38.15.
