DOHA 2019 | Four Jamaicans hoping for finals today
Four Jamaicans will hope to secure spots in their respective event finals as the IAAF World Championships continues today from Doha, Qatar.
Elaine Thompson and Shashalee Forbes will compete in the semi-finals of the Women's 200m starting at 1:35pm.
Thompson placed second in her first round heat to qualify automatically with a time of 22.61 seconds and she will run in the second semi-final out of lane six.
Forbes, who came third in her first round heat in 23.15 seconds, will contest the first semi-final in lane eight.
Meanwhile, Shericka Jackson and Stephenie-Ann Mcpherson will run in the Women's 400m semi-finals at 12:50pm.
Jackson will be in a packed field in the second semi-final which includes the favourite Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas.
Jackson placed second in her first round heat in 51.13 seconds.
Mcpherson will line up in lane six in the third semi-final.
She qualified automatically from her first round heat in 51.21 seconds.
In the meantime, Shiann Salmon, Ronda Whyte and Rushell Clayton will get their championships started in the first round of 400m Hurdles starting at 9:30am while the trio of Akeem Bloomfield, Demish Gayle and Rusheen McDonald competes in the first round of the Men's 400m at 8:35am.
