Caymanas Park operations scaled down
Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited, operators of Caymanas Track, announced today that effective Monday, the Caymanas Park Main Racetrack operations will be scaled down to four days only, from Monday to Thursday.
The company said that it had to take this decision because of what it describes as "severe disruptions and the immense impact" of the novel coronavirus on the country’s economy, in particular, St Catherine.
It says that for the weeks of May 11 and May 18, the Main Racetrack will be open for operations for three days only, Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and for the week of May 25, the Main Racetrack will be open for operations for two days only, Monday and Friday.
The Company also announced additional employee layoffs and salary reductions, effective this month.
Chairman Solomon Sharpe says that during the shutdown and over the last few weeks, the company employed various strategies to maintain business continuity, including having dialogue with Government, the Project Monitoring Committee and horse racing stakeholders.
“This scaled down operation is in keeping with our available resources at this time, and we will continue to ensure that all relevant personnel adhere to the social distancing and other required public health protocols,” Sharpe said.
