The Editor misses Twilight 6 but thrills loyal fans
WHENEVER he hits a purple patch, The Editor doesn’t know when to stop.
After being awarded 15-1 outsider, RATIO, at PURE HEART’s expense, on Sunday’s mandatory Reggae 6 payout day, The Editor had 6-1 mild upsetter, ROY ROGERS, among his two selections to close Saturday’s Twilight 6.
However, spending a measly $480 on the Twilight 6 caused The Editor to miss the $123,000 payout after failing to spot MOUNT ZION KING in the sixth to start his bet.
However, many of The Editor’s fans seized the opportunity to ride his form, collecting tidy sums on the late Pick 4 and Pick 3, which returned $20,256 and $9,583, respectively, by using his Twilight 6 selections.
Though no tipster came close to landing the Reggae 6’s opening-day single-winning guarantee of $3m, a punter spent $2,800 to corner the bet, one meet after five winning tickets each picked up $3.2m on last Sunday’s mandatory payout day.
Meanwhile, a hot battle rages atop the monthly ‘Most Wins’ category between hot Indian Flame and Gizzy, who has been riding title-chasing jockey Dane Nelson’s coattails. Both tipsters spotted six winners apiece on Saturday’s 11-race card and are tied on eight wins apiece, ahead of an unlikely chaser, The Editor, in pursuit on seven, along with Rookie.
Fleet-footed The Clockman appears not to be relishing the recent underfoot conditions, denied a triple by Indian Flame, who won October’s $10,000 Most Wins prize. After picking up a nil on Sunday, November 1, The Clockman is among the backmarkers on four winners.
