Jamaica defeated Saudi Arabia 2-1 in the final match of their two-game international series on Tuesday at the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Stadium in Riyadh.

Goals from Daniel Johnson and Javon East guided the Reggae Boyz to the win in what was head coach Theodore Whitmore's 100th game in charge.

Jamaica started the match brightly creating most of the chances in the first half, making improvements from Saturday's 3-0 defeat. However, it was the Saudi's that took the lead against the run of play in the 29th minute, when Abdullah Al-Hamden received a great pass and dispatched his shot past Dwayne Miller for the opening goal.

Despite Jamaica's complaints that he was offside when the ball was played, the goal stood.

Jamaica continued to have chances and came close to the equaliser in the 33 minute when Leon Bailey got on the end of a great cross from Johnson but his shot somehow missed the target. They would get their reward a minute later, when Johnson unleashed a brilliant strike from outside the penalty area that gave Saudi goalkeeper Mohammed Al Yami no chance.

Jamaica continued the early pressure from the first half and took the lead in the 64th minute when East disposed a Saudi defender and managed to finish past Al Yami for his second international goal.

East should have had a second in the 70th when Bailey's shot was deflected into his path but his effort only trickled into the hands of Al Yami.

This is Jamaica's first win against Saudi Arabia since July 1999.
