The Charities Authority (CA) has apologised for what it says is an error in information provided regarding financial statements from the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA).

CA had said in a letter to the JOA dated July 5, 2021, that the Association's last Annual Return was for the period 2018 and 2019. CA also said that the Association was not up to date on its filings with them.

However, CA sent another letter to JOA dated July 7, 2021, which it used for clarification.

"Further review of our files revealed that there was an error in the information provided," CA said. "The Charities Authorities apologises for the error, and any inconvenience the previous correspondence may have caused."

CA says that the JOA has filed all its Annual Returns, inclusive of those for 2020. It adds that the JOA is up-to-date with all its filing obligations with the Charities Authority, with the exception that the 2020 Audited Financial Statements are awaited in accordance with the agreed deadline, but the unaudited financial statements for 2020 were submitted and accepted by the Charities Authority.

CA says it acknowledges as well, based on the Notice of Change to Charities Authority (Form 7) that Alan Beckford left his role as a JOA Director as of July 12, 2020.

CA also said that its records do not indicate any amended Constitution or Articles of Association for the JOA.
