Biggs signs with Slovenian club
Jamaican football player, Ranaldo Biggs, of St Catherine-based club Racing FC, has signed a three-year contract with Slovenian Premier League club, NK Domžale.
Biggs will be the second Jamaican to ply his trade for NK Domžale in recent times, following national striker Shamar Nicholson who played two years at the Slovenian outfit before being transferred to Belgian club Charleroi in 2019.
Biggs’ agent, Kevin Cowan, said this is a ‘big opportunity’ for the 19-year-old to ply his trade in Europe and continue his development as a professional football player.
“I am feeling really great for the player because he is a really good player and it is a big opportunity for him,” said Cowan. “The club believes in the project because he is a young player and they know he needs time to settle and they will give him the opportunity to develop and grow and so I feel really pleased about the possibility,” he said.
Cowan underscored that Biggs, who is an attacking midfielder, is aware of what is at stake and therefore knows that he has a lot of hard work ahead of him.
“The player is delighted with himself, but he is also fully aware that this is only the beginning. He understands that the real work starts now,” he said.
Cowan added that Nigel Walker, owner of Racing FC and coach Anthony Patrick, also played crucial roles in helping to get Biggs the contract in Slovenia.
Reggae Boy Kaheem Parris also plies his trade in the Slovenian top league with FC Koper. The former Cavalier and Dinthill Technical daCosta Cup star player has been in excellent form so far this season, netting three goals in three matches. The former Dinthill Technical daCosta Cup star has represented the country on four occasions.
