Canada's Risdon holds lead after day two of Jamaica Open
Canadian Justin Risdon shot another four under par round 68 to maintain his lead, after day two of the three-day Jamaica Open at the Tryall Golf Club in Hanover.
Risdon was once again imperious with the putter, rattling in six birdies to go with one blemish of a double bogey in his second round, to hold a three-shot lead with a total of 136.
American Kurtis Luedtke, Michael Maguire and Trinidadian Benjamin Martin carded rounds of 66, 67 and 70, respectively, to be all tied for second with totals of 139.
Jamaica's Wesley Brown shot a three-over-par round of 75 for a total of 147 to be 11 shots off the lead in 17th position.
For Risdon, it was another solid round that has set up things nicely heading into the final day.
“If I do the things that I have done the first two days I will be tough to beat, unless somebody goes pretty low. But I am just going to stick with the same game plan and keep doing what I have been doing,” said Risdon.
In the amateur section, Jamaican William Knibbs maintained his lead over compatriot Justin Burrowes, following his even par round of 72, to go with his opening round 70, for a total of two-under-par 142.
Burrowes shot another two over par round of 74 to be six shots back, while Rocco Lopez also shot another four over par round, 76, to be 10 shots off the lead.
For Knibbs, the aim is to maintain his composure to retain his title.
“It’s nice to be leading after day two, but it's important for me to play well on the final day and let whatever else happens to take care of itself," said Knibbs.
