Jamaica will not have a representative in the final of the men’s 60 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.

This after the country’s lone entrant, Nigel Ellis, found the semi-final of the event too quick for his liking.

Ellis, running in heat one of three, finished fifth in 6.65 seconds. The Caribbean will have an entrant in the final though, as Trinidad and Tobago’s Jerod Elcock, running in the same heat, finished second in 6.63 seconds.

Barbados’ Mrio Burke, 6.67 and Guyana’s Travis Collins, who also ran 6.67, finished sixth and seventh respectively.

The British Virgin Islands’ Rikkoi Brathwaite did not face the start in his semi-final.
