Champs 2022 | JC's Blake equals Class One 800m record

Jamaica College's (JC) J'Voughnn Blake came close to breaking the Class One Boys 800m record in the semi-final at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships on Friday.

The Class one 1500m champion matched the mark of 1:48.58 minutes, the year-old record which was set by Edwin Allen's Chevonne Hall of Edwin Allen, to win the title.

Blake led a one-two finish for JC with Handal Roban clocking 1:48:72 while Giovouni Henry of Kingston College was third in 1:50:79.

In Class Two, Ainsley Brown of Port Antonio High, raced to victory in 1:55:08, while Rashid Green of St Elizabeth Technical, was second in 1:56:23. Franklyn Tayloe of Foga Road High was third in 1:57:14.

In Class Three, JC's Samuel Creary took home gold in 2:01:34 ahead of 1500m champion Nahashon Ruto of KC who clocked 2:01:45. Class three 400m champion Troydian Flemmings of Manchester High added to his medal collection, taking bronze in 2:01:46.
