Earlier this season, Harbour View suffered from wastefulness in front of goal with just eight goals in their first 11 games.

However, in two matches since the start of the second round they have scored seven goals and coach Ludlow Bernard credits their upturn in goalscoring form to the recent addition of former Waterhouse talisman, Colorado Murray.

Harbour View scored a 3-0 win over Mount Pleasant in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday and although Murray didn’t get a goal, Bernard said his contribution is vital to their current form.

“That has been our problem, scoring goals. We played about four games where goalkeepers emerged players of the match. So it’s good that we are finding the net with three and four goals. And defensively we are not conceding,” he pointed out.

“The injection of Murray has been a real impetus. He provides the leadership up front and the experience he comes with really drives the other players. We just need to keep the focus and stay on the mission,” he added.

Odorland Harding gave Harbour View the lead in the 37th minute yesterday, before Jahshaun Anglin made it 2-0 in 53rd minute. Trayvonne Reid then sealed the win with a third in the 68th minute.

GOOD CHANCES

In an open attacking game, both teams created good chances but it was Harbour View who nudged ahead when Harding stabbed home Nicholas Hamilton’s delightful cross from eight yards.

The winners extended their lead eight minutes into the second half when Anglin slammed home Trayvonne Reid’s cross in the 53rd minute.

Harbour View’s goalkeeper Amal Knight then pulled off double saves to deny Daniel Green and Devonte Campbell.

However, Reid sealed the win when he broke away and calmly slotted past Akel Clarke in goal.

Mount Pleasant coach Walter Downes, who came under pressure from fans after the game, said his new recruits have not yet gelled.

“The fans have every right to be displeased. We had chances to score and didn’t take them and we had chances to defend and did not do it properly.

“I am very unhappy with the performance. We need more effort where it matters most in our box and their box,” he said.

Harbour View are sixth in the JPL with 19 points, while Mount Pleasant remain fourth on 22 points.
