CG2022 | Mears finishes 11th in weightlifting

Jamaica's lone finalist Omarie Mears finished 11th in the final of the men’s 81 KG (weightlifting) division at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Mears, in the snatch category, lifted 126 kg, while in the clean and jerk category, he lifted 147kg to end with a total of 273kg, four kg behind Scotland’s Jason Epton in 10th place.

The competition was won by England’s Chris Murray (325kg), while Australia’s Kyle Bruce (323kg) and Canada’s Nicolas Vachon (320kg) rounded off the top three.
