CG2022 | Jamaicans move into round of 16 in badminton

Jamaica's Tahlia Richardson in the women's singles as well as the mixed doubles pair of Katherine Wynter and Joel Angus, qualified for the round of 16 in badminton at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England on Thursday.

Richardson had a comfortable 2-0 victory over Pakistan's Ghazala Siddique with set scores of 21-15, 21-14. She is slated to face Australia's Hsuan-Yu Wendy Chen on Friday at 5:00 am Jamaica time.

Meanwhile, the mixed doubles pair of Wynter and Angus defeated Guernsey's Stuart Hardy and Chloe Le Tissier 21-17, 21-11 for an easy two-set victory. The Jamaicans will face England's Callum Hemming and Jessica Pugh on Friday at 5:00 am Jamaica time.

Jamaica's other pair in the mixed doubles, Samuel Ricketts and Tahlia Richardson, lost to Australia's Jack Yu and Kaitlyn Ea 2-1 with scores of 21-13, 21-16 and 8-21.
