CG2022 | Whyte, Thompson-Herah progress to 200m semis
Jamaica’s duo of Natalliah Whyte and reigning women’s 100 metres champion Elaine Thompson-Herah, Thursday, progressed to the semi-finals of the women’s 200 metres at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
Whyte, who competed in heat three, won in 23.61 seconds, ahead of Wales’ Hannah Brier in 24.04 and Guernsey’s Abi Galpin in 24.47.
Thompson-Herah, fresh off the 100 metres triumph on Wednesday, was in heat five and crossed the tape in 22.80 seconds ahead of Scotland’s Beth Dobbin in 23.10. Australia’s Jacinta Beecher in 23.13 seconds and Trinidad and Tobago’s Mauricio Prieto in 23.69 also qualified from that race.
The semi-finals are set for Friday, starting at 2:15 pm Jamaica time.
