World U-20 | Clarke moves into men's 400mh final

Jamaica's Roshawn Clarke ran a personal best to win his semi-finals heat and advanced to the final of the men's 400 metres hurdles at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia on Thursday.

Clarke did 49.35 seconds to win heat three of the semi-finals and finish ahead of Qatar's Ismail Doudai Abkar, who did a personal best of 49.48. Matic Ian Gucek of Slovakia was third in a national Under-20 record of 49.72 and advanced to the final on time.

Meanwhile, Jamaica's Antonio Forbes placed sixth in heat one of the semi-finals and failed to progress.

Forbes started slowly and never figured prominently in the event at any stage as he did 51.42 seconds.

Puerto Rico's Yan Manuel Vazquez ran a national Under-20 record to win the event in 50.37 seconds with France's Sonny Gandrey getting the silver in a personal best of 50.59 and Kenya's Peter Kithome Muthoka bronze in a season best of 50.84.
