Urban leg of Junior Cup shifts to KO stage
THE 2022 Junior Cup, organised by the Free Your Image (FYI) consultancy group, will kick into high gear today at the Constant Spring Football Field, starting at 9 a.m. as teams will be jostling for a spot in the knock-out stages of the competition.
On the back of a tightly contested first round, the likes of St Patrick’s Primary, Rousseau Primary, Hillel Academy, Emmanuel Christian will all put their unbeaten runs on the line.
Zone One leaders St Patrick’s Primary will enter the day’s action on 12 points, the same as Rousseau Primary. They are the two favourites to take the automatic spot through to the semi-final stage.
In Zone Two, St Francis Primary, who conceded only two goals from the first round of matches, are on 10 points, leading Belair Preparatory who sits close by on nine points.
Over in Zone Three, the unbeaten Hillel Academy are runaway leaders on 12 with second place Glowell Preparatory some distance behind on seven points.
In Zone Four Emmanuel Christian, one of four unbeaten teams, leads the group with 12 points, while the pair of Pembroke Hall Primary and Windward Road Primary are breathing down their necks sitting on nine points each.
The four table toppers, following the quarter-final round, will book their spots in the semi-final round.
