Georgetown University held their nerve as they beat the La Salle University 69-62 in their final game of the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St James on Sunday.

The nail-biting second half had the spectators in a frenzy as the Georgetown Hoyas, coached by Jamaica-born former NBA superstar Patrick Ewing, almost gave up the lead to their opponents as they were outscored 41-28 after having their biggest lead of 25 points.

Ewing said: “We were disappointed losing the first game but this game we made it a lot harder than it needed to be but found a way to get the win and now look forward to what comes up next."

Qudus Wahab, after returning back to the Hoyas in May this year, led his team by scoring 23 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. His teammate Brandon Murray scored 16 points and pulled down six rebounds.
